In 1960 Darinka comes from America to Paludza, a small Slovakian village, to visit the beloved father she hasn't seen for thirty-two years. Together they share memories of her wonderful childhood with him, her mother Anna and her younger sister Marca. There are recollections of Ondrej, Bab Yaga and Teta Helena. There are stories of fattening the goose for Christmas, cooking for the peasants, the birth of Marca and more.
