When Times Were Tough

This is a historical novel set in 1788 during the time of Australia's First Fleet. The two main characters live in Portsmouth, England living separate lives who then travel on the First Fleet in separate vessels until they reach Sydney New South Wales. The young lady and her family finally meet the Marine on HMS Supply during its first voyage to settle Norfolk Island. The two main characters then become romantically involved. The story should be considered a historic adventure journey by the two main characters from one side of the earth to the other which concludes in a personal relationship. What life was like during the late 18th century is a major part of the story.
