Place Names of the Camden Area is the third edition of this title and has been improved with research undertaken by the late Janice Johnson, who made provision in her will to pay for publishing this edition. This revised edition includes information from earlier versions of this title with additional information provided by maps showing the location of many lost place names. An index of landowners, tenants, and others has also been included in this edition to further aid researchers. The Camden District is constantly changing in the face of Sydney's urban growth and there is a risk the names will be lost under a sea of housing and new suburbs. By recording the place names in this book, it is hoped that the names and their meanings will be preserved for the future.
