The power of God's word is often times hard to explain, because of the influence and wisdom in those words, and the emotions or feeling these words can often provoke within all of us. You need to know and understand that we can trust and believe what God has provided and granted to us, and that by acting upon God's word and not merely reacting to a situation we will be able to manage our emotions instead of allowing them to manage us.
