With Invisible Woman, I recreate with heartbreaking clarity my emotional evolution as I navigate the stages of grief following relinquishment of my infant daughter for adoption. This modern-day version of a search-and-find story does not end, as many do, with a mother-daughter reunion. Rather, this telling covers the 55 years from abandonment to post-reunion, revealing the long-term effects of a youthful decision for all involved parties. By reliving events from the past, studying them up close, and scanning them from the safe distance of time, I was able to take back a part of my lost self. This memoir is a testimony to writing as a medium for mourning and healing.
