A poignant selection of poems charting a secret, illegal love affair between two people of different race in Apartheid South Africa, these poems have been written over more than 50 years. They date from the first teenage romance through years of separation until their meeting again after the democratic elections of 1994. By that time, both were priests in their respective churches and, although she was free, he was still married. The tragedy was that, where the law had at first kept them apart, now their calling did.
