This is a comedic satire of life in a fictitious English university, taking place through an academic year, and centred around the fortunes of University North and of the newly-formed Department of Mathematics and History, a seemingly odd combination of subject areas. Central to the plot are the two main characters, Professor Kevin Flute, Vice Chancellor, and an extremely bright cleaning lady, Miss Deirdre Wetherby. To the outside world, academia may appear dull. In reality, a university is a place where behind-the-scenes politics and machinations, intrigue and bizarre events, become the norm, while maintaining a calm fa?ade for hard-working students.
