Gullible Travels: Memories of Family Life B.T. - Before Technology

Gullible Travels fondly remembers the late 1980's when teenagers had no quick technical escape from parental contact and occasionally even carried on conversations. These were often short, sometimes punctuated with shaking heads, Neanderthal grunts, rolling eyes, or a "Get Real" comment. We even shared eye contact, questions were actually answered (although often in fragmented monosyllables) but both sides usually managed to get their point across.. We actually remember delightful, creative communications.I never knew what to expect, what was coming next, or how to prepare. So I wrote down every adventure and misadventure when no one was looking, desperately trying to figure out this new world. For several years these stories were published in the North San Diego County newspapers, giving me the opportunity to embarrass my own kids (payback, you know), and sometimes their friends, most Wednesdays of their high school years. Also, to be fair, I recorded the many times when I couldn't figure out my own role, so added some creative adult adventures as well. As we look back now, we realize what an unenlightened journey we were all traveling. We survived quite well, however, because we didn't know any better. We were living in the Land Before Technology.
