On the 18th of April, 2018 everything changed in Nicaragua. Daniel Ortega's government used police and paramilitary forces to attack and kill civilians who were peacefully protesting changes to the nation's social security system. Following these initial attacks, civil unrest and government repression ravaged the country, killing hundreds.
