This book aims to reflect on the political, economic, social and cultural developments that have been taking place around the world post World War I and II, collect, synthesise, collate the information, conceptualise, theorise and present it in a clearcut global perspective, cutting the clutter, for the benefit of the uninitiated common man in the simple non-technical language in continuity with the historical developments and find a common linkage between amongst all the elements to make a sense make it easy to understand. Two parallel socio-economic models existed and prevailed during the Cold War era stretching between 12 March 1947 and 26 December 1991, the liberal democratic capitalism model led by the US and the communist socialistic model led by the erstwhile Union of Socialistic Soviet Republic (USSR). Both these blocs tried to manoeuvre each other by show of strength through intelligence, nuclear arms race, media propaganda and space race and indulging in a proxy war, sabotage and intrigue.
