The Book Of Hours: Poems For The Earthquake Survivors February 2023 In Türkiye And Syria

'Found poems' are constructed from words already written which are then gathered together by the poet and reframed. I found these poems in the words of survivors, rescuers, and reporters as narrated by television and social media. As I searched for their details, I found more and more. I could not tell them all, and in those I have told, I have used my imagination to excavate the experiences and imagine what it might feel like for those who survived and were rescued, andthose rescuing them. I hope the untold stories have also found their way into these constructions, and so have used first names to allow for other identities to find their way in. I hope these survivors will know that I have undertaken this writing with great respect and that it will go some way into garnering ongoing support for the victims of the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey. All profits from this collection will be donated to the UNHCR to assist the more than 300 000 peoplewho have been displaced in this disaster.
