Fifteen year old freshman, Payden Lamar Washington, known as Payne, attends Fairley High. Unlike most teenagers, Payne anxiously looks forward to getting up and going to school every day. It's his only getaway from an abusive, drug addicted mother, five brothers and sisters, one who is mentally challenged, and a life that he wishes was a nighmare that he could wake up from. He has three positive things going for him, his love of art, music, and his girlfriend Marissa. Yet, his horrible home life leaves Payne little time to enjoy anything.
