As a child, I suffered from physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. By sharing my life experience with you, my aim is to expose my personal caustic cycle of destructive thoughts and feelings that led to my own abusive behavior. Perhaps this will help you to identify your own destructive actions, or those of someone close to you. We cannot break this lifelong cycle of abuse alone. I have tried and failed miserably as you will soon see through the pages of this book.By sharing my secrets, I hope you will discover that no matter what the type or degree of abuse that you have suffered through or inflicted upon your victims, you are not a "lost cause." Remember, it is never too late to change. There is a time for everything and the time to heal is now! We can regain self-respect and self-forgiveness, and even perhaps regain some of that dignity we seemed to have lost along the way.Once we mend ourselves from within, we begin to understand why we made the poor choices that perpetuate the cycle of abuse. The opportunity is before you to acquire the tools for positive change. I am not proud of my involvement in abusing, but if my experience can help at least one person and if by exposing all of the shame-filled dysfunctional masks I have worn throughout my life, and if one child is saved from what I went through then this is all worth it.
