I would call this book a real show of emotions, as all the characters come to life from a twisted and superficial mentality. The time between Communist Albania and Democratic Albania drew from one side people eager to have and to express much more they had expressed so far, and on the other hand, these people were educated and raised by closed-minded parents who considered as ashamed to do something like for example: kissing a boyfriend or girlfriend in the street. "The Ice-Cream Vendor" speaks of the ambitions, desires, ways and manipulations that grow within the main character, called Paris. A boy who grew up in a village in the 1990s in the Communist Albania that would be accompanied by drastic political, economic and social changes. This book intends to focus on the changes of time through the changes that the characters make in their daily life and everything else that accompanies them. The dreams he carries for himself and accompany him throughout the story are a real sensation. The main character comes without masks in his revelation, yet he is almost ready to use his masks during his lifetime to extinguish his character vulnerable points, with which he experiences the success and fame he was seeking. During reading this book it is noticed that maybe, he does not do anything different from what everyone does in everyday life. Maybe masks are the best way to express oneself and probably should not be taken into account only in the negative context of the word.The book is narrowed into 11 chapters that show the history of a whole society in all its dimensions: the emotional, social, political dimension, criminality, sexuality, but not avoiding the truth. From that truth which does not seek to change someone or even seek to lift anyone, anywhere!The story is written in such a way that any of the events are out of the writer's judgment and everything is left to the reader as the sole perpetrator of the offense. Every link that is created in this book is a strong link that shows how criminality, killings, decisions taken, social status, state of fame were in those years in a small country like Albania. It is certain that the book is a metaphor, and a comparison with the lives of each of us is easy to see. To reach the point where dreams may come true is not enough to have only your good wish. Sometimes the decisions we make are the ones that guide us to our future. From a dream, we can easily go to an uncontrolled excitement of emotions, which influenced by our desires, circumstances, and experiences show us where the human being is ready to go and prove his own fate. The book expresses the wish of every man to make it in one way or another. The book tries to emanate the truth of a whole society: how it interacts, coexists, and dredges everything for personal gain.Another element that is distinct in the book is sex. It is clear that the impact of having sex in the life of a society. The sexuality expressed in a developing society is the fact and the most precious document that must be seen to advance in our ways. If it is expressed to harsh it will bring a society with great problems of criminality, social and philanthropy problems. All of this spurs in the book as a not only Albanian reality.What should not be left without mentioning is love, which is the primary savior for every author, for every person, or for a whole society. Love for the family, oneself, the other, brother, mother, for your woman or any woman, are seen to be beautifully interwoven in the rows of the book.This is why this book was so funny to make when it was rolled out day after day, because the interaction is perhaps the element that represents it most. It does not give up from the truth and this probably makes it so beautiful. The reader is kept engaged all the time as he or she is eager to know how it will end, but at the same time surprises the reader with the simplicity of the style of confession.
