All religion is myth and we'd might as well get on with it. But this does not mean the art produced in religion has not been sublime, but then art is about man isn't it? But the paintings, sculpture, and especially architecture have been awe-inspiring, and no more so than in the cathedral. The cathedral does what it was intended to do, let man's mind soar, and in a Universe that can be divine, but simply within the framework of the human mind. We are our own God, depending on the level of intelligence. Logic, Rationality, and Common Sense, are the determinants. The Universal Scale writes the heavenly script! The barn has always been the poor man's cathedral. Not only did it allow life to continue on the most primary level, housing his animals, foods, and tools but during much of his life, A Man's Life, it allowed his greatest thoughts, certainly during the winter months, and bad weather, when living in the fields wasn't available. Men Lived In The Barn and it was a spiritual place, half inside, half outside, a totally natural place from the breathing animals to the wooden beams, and it allowed great isolation and periods of mulling time to get life together. The problem with men today, and there are many problems because men, as animals, have been moved from the barn to the zoo, but today men have no barns, and they have no farms, and all that's natural has been moved to the artificial, men live vicariously, one drug or another, to try and supplant Nature's organic high. If you think a Manhattan apartment can supplant a Midwestern barn there is no help! Mythoslic, A Myth Ossified Brain, you have been become part of the Corporate blueprint! Increasingly alienation grows, strangely, dissatisfaction with ourselves. Mysteriously there's often a feeling of coming home when you return to the cycles! Artificial Being, and the pressure is relieved! Ah Animals, Messianic Feast, and a piece of bread and meat in a barnloft so well serves the higher need! It's educational to understand that the bailing of hay didn't come about until the 1940's. Until that time, for hundreds of years, or thousands of years, hay was put into a barn, or barnloft, loose, and these piles of hay were called "shocks." Shocks often remained in the field, bundled into sheaves and developed an outer coating of rot and mold but at least some of the inner pile survived protected as a thatched roof cottage protects the home inside. But a barn, any kind of barn, lean-to shack, with it's protection from rain, greatly improved the chances of survival of hay until spring, and with it survival of animals and man. But a Great Midwestern barn, in recent history, might have a hundred tons of hay piled into 30-foot shocks, and you talking about a land for dreaming, and sleeping, and thinking, a night spent there with it cold and the rain beating against an 8th acre roof and you'd wake in the morning with a new philosophy. And men always spent nights in the barn, hired hands lived in the barn, teenage boys developed there among natural laws. Universal Realms, Shocks In A Barn Loft, the name of these short stories, pieces of writing, does not refer to sex, per se, as many have suggested, but thought. Sex is always involved, and is such a natural part of Akins' writing as to be a primal response, like breathing, writing and sex are the same thing, and flow from the same spring, but these are not Romance stories as they say, female paperbacks with beefcake covers. These men are Satyrs, by Akins definition, "Hirsute, Universal Men That Can See Through The Myths Of Civilization," and it's not soft porno they want, but hard, Truth, and that can only come from isolated freedom, outside a system, an Animal Atmosphere, barnloft, farm-sky, wooded, azure-domed heavens. Yeah, Universal, beyond Myth, Man! A hard-on is but one more tool for the establishment of truth. And the Bible of that is Writing! Write hard so that other men may read soft!
