Intimate Coercion: Recognition and Recovery explores the foundation and causes of intimate coercion. This may be coercion between a man and woman, a same-sex couple, parents and children, siblings, etc. Previous research on coercion is reviewed. Trauma therapies are described, especially those used to help people traumatized by abuse and coercion. A type of connective relational therapy is discussed with techniques developed to help those who have been or are experiencing coercion. A genogram (family tree) is included to offer an illustration of intimate coercion. And a new way to analyze and understand intimate coercion is included- a diagram of the type and impact of coercion on a person.
