Part 1: When Devon Andrews (nineteen) gets killed while trying to save a stranger's marriage proposal while crossing a city street in Ottawa, the afterlife categorizes his act as a sacrifice for love, which in turn allows him the opportunity at a less-than-average afterlife: to become part of the CIH (Cupid Incorporated Headquarters). Seconds after the impact of his fatal accident, Devon is sent to l?Arc de Triomphe in Paris, where he is debriefed by Cupid (Q) himself. The strange man who claims to be Cupid leads Devon to underground Paris, where headquarters is located. If Devon chooses to stay, he will undergo training, be rewired for matching abilities, and be sent off into the world to become a matcher. Matchers receive information on the destined soul mates, must conduct research, and then devise a plan for them to cross paths and fall in love within a certain critical time frame. Part 2 is his first case ever. In Ottawa, he must match Liam Cosgrave, a successful parliamentarian intern for the minister of the environment, to a random girl who works at Starbucks (actually aspires to work at Chapters'a bookstore'though in order to be surrounded by what she loves: books). At age nineteen, Devon Andrews crosses a busy city street in the attempts of saving a stranger's marriage proposal. But it comes with a deathly consequence. Flash forward two seconds after impact, and he is standing, virtually unscathed, in a foreign place he has never physically been to before. It turns out that his act was categorized by the afterlife as a sacrifice for love, which in turn allows him the opportunity at a less-than-average postmortem gig, working for the CI (Cupid Incorporated). To Devon, the obvious choice is to accept the position as a matcher, especially when superabilities and immortality are at play. But what's also obvious is that his first ever case will be anything but a breeze.
