We've evolved into weird beings, our culture held hostage to the word 'try.' If we don't, we see ourselves as failing, and if we do, one segment of culture is at our beck and call while another moves into confusion, as each piece wants to stay itself yet it's all engulfed in oneness. Culture can't exist on its own but it could be left in the past if everyone decided it brings us down as a species, which it might, but we'd have to create a new and very different culture to find out, so it would still be culture.
