Grandma Leola shows signs of dementia/Alzheimers on a rainy day where her memory is challenged. We think of home painted bird houses and static records playing concertos and the blues. We think of stories of survival, 5 cent loaves of bread, doilies hosting porcelain figurines and black-n-white photographs of loves first encounter. We think of slowing down. We think of canes and wheelchairs, hospices and growing older. We think of the smallness of our biggest pains, the letting go of our greatest mistakes, forgiveness, redemption, eternity. We think of cookies, fresh out of the oven.
