This book deals with two aspects of Hinduism. Firstly, it examines the Hindu conception of the 'Highest Principle of the Universe' designated Brahman or God from its inception in multiplicity, as evident in diverse, superhuman forces or energies of nature, from which all things derive their initial impetus and direction, to the grand, Upanishadic conclusion of the singularity of that Principle and the qualitative relationship of the the human soul with THAT. And secondly, it argues for the effectiveness of the use of symbols as empirical props in the task of understanding, appreciating, and digesting subtle meanings and nuances that litter the pages of Hindu scripture, especially in respect of minds less attuned to the more abstract foundations upon which Hindu philosophy is based.
