You must lie about your identity and age, and pretend to be more foolish and ignorant than you really are. You must guard the secret of centuries past. You must fight against human superstition. It's damnation, not the achievement of Perfection. Children must be carefully chosen. Those with the ability to adapt and embrace wisdom. Those who are ready to give up everything, fearlessly, but with reverence. Those who never ask questions, but submit their will to the oldest members of the group. Those who are faithful and never show remorse. So, think about it. Think about it before you step onto unstable ground that is full of pain, anger, dissatisfaction and revenge. This is the greatest condemnation that God could give you.' 'Necrotica' is a poetry anthology composed of fifty-five poems that deal mainly with vampires and are not arranged in any chronological order. The work is deliberately anomalous, since its structure recalls a collection of short stories or a short novel (with a preface, an introduction, a prologue and so on).
