Going Numb

In 1989, J. Hirtle and his family would begin a new life in the majestic beauty of Soldotna, Alaska. The splendor of the Last Frontier would soon lose its appeal when his wife would begin her own journey into a life addicted to prescribed painkillers. Attempting to flee the ravages of addiction, he would move his family across the country on two different occasions. Attempts to regain the solidarity of his family were thwarted by willing doctors and the easily acquired prescriptions at each new location. Finally realizing that fleeing was not the cure, he turned to God and Scripture for the answer.
