The United States faced with a savage nuclear attacked. Millions of survivors are on the move, heading east. The refugees are met by an unwelcoming nation. Fellow Americans turn on each other when precious resources rapidly disappear. The government isn't forthcoming with vital information, nor helpful. A solution is created, massive structures, called Hives. Refugees are sent to these havens, offered food and shelter, but, at a price. On first blush, it's the answer to all their problems. Once you go in, you cannot come out. The sanctuary has now become a prison, for all of America's citizens. It has become an apocalyptic life.
