A Matter of Policy

While cleaning his mother's cupboard, three years after her passing away, Pinaki comes across four Life Insurance Policies brought by his mother in her early working days in Lady Keane College, Shillong, Meghalaya. Curious to know more about them, Pinaki finds himself, writing to the Manager of the issuing branch of the policies, little knowing that he has embarked upon a journey that would not only take him back to her hometown but also reveal a romance his mother had never shared with him, during her living years. As one thing leads to another, Pinaki is now left with a choice of whether he wants to know more about this romance, or leave it as it were. A quiet journey, with no major agonizing revelations, this path of love of yonder years, may leave the reader mesmerized with the fragrance of blossoms of romance that are refreshingly simple and enduring.
