Love In Four Dots: A Novel

Love at Four Points is based on love letters and political intrigue written in code in an old Don Quixote volume from 1844. The people who wrote them, Sofía and Federico, exchanged secret messages during The Thousand Day War (1899-1902), between the military prison and the city in Popayán, Colombia. This book is a work of fiction about the micro-history of that horrendous civil and military conflict and its impact on the protagonists, their families and the population of the entire nation in such a tragic moment. The lovers used two codes to communicate in secret, one based on graphite pencil points distributed between the lines of the text and the other connecting their messages with points with the dialogues of Sancho and Don Quixote. Using the story as a background, plus the dotted letters and the text of the book as guides, the author travels in his imagination filling in the gaps in the lives of Sofía and Federico, leading the reader to an unexpected ending that reveals the links between the characters. and the various elements of the plot.
