When I shared with others that my Dad had been diagnosed with ALS, the resounding response was a 'gasp' followed by a breathy "I'm?so?sorry". At the time I didn't know what, but I came to deeply understand the gravity of those gasps.Here is just one story about an ALS victim, our story. This journey changed us, changed me.At the cornerstone of this story is the fact that my Dad lost his ability to speak, and to a degree, to communicate with clarity and meaning. Speech and dementia are just a few of the affects of ALS. Dad was well-read and knowledgeable. He loved to share thoughts and was fairly good at a debate. Through my storytelling, I'll give life to his final stories.
