GET TO THE POINT!: The implications of saying it out loud

It has recently become apparent to me how many things we say without really considering the words we are using. I am the foremost culprit of such language, so I feel qualified to address the subject. I wonder why the phrase in question is used so loosely. As I considered this phrase, I found it holds much more power to be offensive than I initially thought.
