The book tells the story of an international photographer and his correspondent girlfriend who are befriended by a beautiful, yet mysterious, woman in Florence, Italy. She reappears in Washington, D.C. and relates to them that her boyfriend in Florence has been murdered and so has her husband in Washington. The photographer learns of a sinister crime organization connected with the woman's husband, and he is thrown into a race to find three digital keys which together will open a secret computer server and disclose files incriminating members of Congress. Unfortunately, the criminal organization is looking for the same keys so it can destroy the files. The photographer, his girlfriend, the beautiful woman, and her unusual friend, all try to unravel the mystery resulting in murder, deceit, and an unexpected ending.
