Dialogues With Patriarch Athenagoras

The text is a series of conversations between the author, Olivier Clement, and then Ecumenical Patriarch Athenagoras, which took place in the late 1960s in Istanbul, Turkey. In the conversations, the two discuss the Patriarch's life and his work as Ecumenical Patriarch of the Orthodox Church. In the discussions the two reflect on various aspects of Orthodox Christian theology and experience. They spend a great deal of time discussing the historic meetings of Patriarch Athenagoras and Pope Paul VI, which lifted the Great Schism of 1054 between Eastern and Western Christianity.
