What a privileged upbringing. Born in a tiny hamlet in central Scotland, a mining village surrounded by bings, where principles were important and hard work the norm. A childhood spent juxtaposing the rough and tumble of street games and after dinner debates on the great events of the world. Parents and teachers instilled a passion for learning and a thirst for knowledge. Adolescence was spent exploring the art of the possible, emotionally, intellectually and geographically, gathering friends, separating sheep & ghosts on bleak mountainsides, riding into the sunrise on lonely beaches, until it was time to grow up. Insights into life in the real world came from a summer job debt collecting in Glasgow.
