There are few books written of the victims who have watched their loved ones decline right before their eyes, watched the self-destructing cycle take hold and felt helpless, as they got pulled deeper into the chaos and devastating behaviors of the addict. For those who feel stuck, helpless and out of hope because the addict has dominated their lives and also feel the legal system is ill-equipped in providing the stability and motivation that is needed, it is my hope that encouragement and inspiration to move forward are gained from this book. It was written to demonstrate that our legal system is broken, heavily flawed and needs massive restructuring, but there is always hope for a better way. I am hopeful that by sharing my story one will recognize the dysfunctional fog, stop the destruction and regain control of their life, despite the barriers they will inevitably face. It was written to show that there are no immediate gratifications in the personal and legal process of stopping the enabling cycle. 'Slow and steady' is the only way out. But it is available to all who want it. This is my story.
