Indians, Catholic priests, mariners, generals, farmers and underworld figures, all claimed a place in the annals of the state. This author was not born in Texas, but he got here, as soon as he could, embracing wholeheartedly the Texas culture and traditions, hopeful that some day he would be considered a Texan.
